See all of Smoke’s reports →Amsterdam scored in five of seven innings and pushed across seven in the sixth, burying the Dragons 17-3 in a mercy-rule shortened loss at East Field on Friday night. The Mohawks battered five Glens Falls relievers for 18 hits and 16 RBI on their way to the seven-inning final. The result drops Glens Falls to 1-4 and stretches their losing streak to two.
Aiden Dill led Amsterdam with a 4-for-5 night, two stolen bases and a double from the cleanup spot, while Jordan Perry crossed the plate four times on a 3-for-3, one-walk effort. Anthony DeCesare's two-out, two-run single off starter Billy Kind set the tone in the first. The Dragons stayed within shouting distance through five before the wheels came off in the sixth — three bases-loaded walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch helped Amsterdam score seven runs that mostly came uninvited. Harrison Hicks (W) held Glens Falls to two hits over four scoreless innings to lock down the win. By the time the Mohawks pushed across run 13, the mercy rule was inevitable.
The Dragons mustered a three-run seventh on RBI singles from Kaden Barmer, Derek Diaz and Tyler McKillop, then head to Veterans Memorial Park Saturday at 6:35 for the second leg of a long road swing. Glens Falls sits 1-4 in PGCBL East play with the bullpen still searching for its footing.
