See all of Smoke’s reports →Five runs in the top of the fifth flipped a one-run Dragons lead into a four-run hole, and the Stallions held on for a 6-4 win at East Field on Monday night. Saugerties pounded out 13 hits to Glens Falls' five and never trailed after the rally, dropping the Dragons to 1-6 and stretching the losing streak to four. Jack Beyl led off the game with a solo home run and barely stopped from there.
Beyl finished 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs, three RBI and three stolen bases — the leadoff shot off Tad D'Andrea in the first, then a two-run, go-ahead single during the five-run fifth. Aiden Schmidt went 3-for-4, Drew Freeman and Michael Lebenson each had two hits, and Mason Gazzaway added a double. Steven Ramirez's RBI groundout pushed the lead to 5-2 before Gazzaway scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-2. The Dragons had grabbed the lead earlier on Kaden Barmer's third-inning RBI single and Hunter Fales' fourth-inning RBI double scoring Taye Robinson. Glens Falls scratched two back in the eighth on Giorgio Pantepinto's steal of third that scored on a catcher's error and a Kaden Barmer wild-pitch run during Enrique Diaz's RBI walk, but stranded the tying run on first.
Tad D'Andrea (L, 0-1) gave up 10 hits and six runs (four earned) over 4.1 innings. Anders Lowkes, Dominick Weidtman and Kyle Fives followed with 4.2 combined scoreless innings out of the pen. Glens Falls heads to Shuttleworth Park on Tuesday to face Amsterdam at 6:45.
